Oil degrading microorganism
The binder system can be equipped with oil degrading microorganisms, which were isolated from the Baltic Sea. The oil degradation of the different microorganisms was examined under different conditions (temperature, oil type, nutrient level etc.). A collection of almost 200 different algae, bacteria and cyanobacteria were analysed. Afterwards the most promising microorganisms were combined to consortia for further investigation. The consortia will be stored freeze-dried and reliquefied in the case of application. The suspension can be sprayed on the binders while loading or in the moment of aerial deployment. An application on the water surface is also possible.
