Nowcast wave prediction

The success of oil spill response operations is mainly dependent on the response time and the weather and sea state conditions. To asses the performance of spill response equipment a statistical analyses of sea state data for the Baltic Sea and the North Sea was done. A numerical model for nowcast sea state prediction was developed for the Baltic Sea. Thereby, an adjusted spill respone operation is possible.
